PYFFO

Stop wasting time on work that shouldn't be this hard.

Find friction. Fix it. Measure the improvement.

PYFFO™ helps you find friction, quantify its impact and remove it — with your own numbers, on your own device, and without an account to create.

Two or three minutes. Nothing to sign up for, and your answers stay in your browser.

What friction is

The work is not the problem. Getting to it is.

Friction is everything that makes work slower and harder than it should be. It rarely looks like a crisis, which is why it survives for years.

The same thing, twice

Job details typed into the field app, then again into the accounts package.

Waiting

Work sitting still because somebody has to approve it, sign it or call back.

Only one person can

Quotes stop while the one person who knows the pricing rules is away.

The monthly rebuild

A spreadsheet reassembled from two exports so somebody can see the figures.

Hunting

Ten minutes finding the document, every time it is needed.

The thing nobody starts

Overdue, important, and put off again — the friction is starting, not doing.

The method

Six stages, in order.

Most tools help you organise friction. PYFFO asks whether the work should exist before helping you make it easier.

  1. Capture

Get it out of your head. What keeps returning? What are you avoiding?

  2. Challenge

Should this exist? What happens if you stop? Only work that deserves to exist survives.

  3. Simplify

Find the shortest sensible path. Remove steps, decisions and hand-offs.

  4. Remove friction

Duplicate entry, waiting, missing information, awkward systems. Progress gets easier.

  5. Accelerate

Only now: automation, integration, templates, delegation. Less unnecessary human effort.

  6. Finish

Define done, choose the next action, give it a time, and ship it.

Then it measures what actually came back, so an improvement is something you confirmed rather than something you hoped for.

The method in full

An example, with its assumptions shown

Four people, half an hour a day.

Four people each spend 30 minutes every working day moving data between two systems. Nobody calls it a problem, because each person only loses half an hour.

4 people × 30 minutes × 20 working days = 40 hours a month

40 hours × 12 = 480 hours a year

At a loaded $50 an hour, that is $2,000 a month, or $24,000 a year

Assumptions: 20 working days a month, a loaded cost of $50 an hour, and the work genuinely stopping rather than moving elsewhere. Change any of them and the number changes. This is an illustration of the arithmetic, not a promise about your business.

Editions

One method. Three editions.

Same method, different licence and different vocabulary. Compare them side by side.

Your data

Your business stays your business.

PYFFO does not need, want or have the ability to read what you put into it.

  • Everything you enter stays on your device.
  • There is no account, no login and no PYFFO server to sign in to.
  • PYFFO works with no network connection at all.
  • Nothing leaves unless you share it yourself.

That is a design decision, not a setting. There is no content database to breach, no analytics carrying your audit and no back end holding your company's problems.

The assessment on this site follows the same rule: it runs in your browser and your answers are never sent anywhere.

The product

What it actually looks like.

Real screens from PYFFO Business, running on a phone. The company is a sample one; the arithmetic is the arithmetic.

The PYFFO Business dashboard for a sample plumbing company: 59 hours a month, $1,888 a month at your rates, 8 items identified, and recovered capacity of 46 estimated, 24 confirmed and 18 current.
What friction is costing, and what has already been won back. Estimated, confirmed and current are three different numbers on purpose.
The friction map, ordered by priority: seven captured items, each showing its friction type, hours a month, recommended action and horizon.
Everything found, ordered by priority — which weighs consequence and the cost of the fix, not hours alone. You can order by hours instead.
One friction item: monthly job profitability worked out by hand, with a friction score of 30 shown as 2 times 5 times 1 times 3, a priority of 7.5 shown as 30 divided by 2 plus 1 plus 1, and the cost as 1 times 240 minutes divided by 60 equals 4 hours a month.
Every figure shows its working. If you disagree with a number you can see exactly which answer to change.
A possible overlap: two observations sharing a friction type, one in Operations at 40 hours a month and one in Administration at 15, with 15 hours held back until somebody decides, and three choices — same underlying friction, related but separate, or not the same.
Two people can describe one problem. PYFFO says what made it look, holds the smaller figure back from the total, and leaves the judgement to you.
The action plan grouped into Now, Next and Investigate, each item showing its next step, who owns it, a date and the hours a month at stake.
Now, Next, Investigate — each with the next actual step, an owner and a date.

Questions

The things people ask.

Is this another task manager?

No. Tasks may come out of the analysis, but the thing PYFFO works on is friction, and the first option is often to stop doing the work altogether.

Do you upload our audit?

No. There is no PYFFO account and no content database. The apps are built to work locally, offline, with nothing to upload to.

Why pay once rather than subscribe?

Because a subscription is friction. You buy the edition and own ongoing use of it, subject to the store's terms.

Why does Business cost $999?

One recurring friction item can be hundreds of hours a year. PYFFO makes that case visible with your own numbers. It does not guarantee the result.
